It's easy to put off doing something if there is no sense of urgency. When you set deadlines for yourself, however, it becomes much easier to get started and keep going. When you have a small task that needs to be completed, it can be helpful to set a time limit for yourself. For example, if you need to complete a 10-page report within three hours, set a timer for three hours and work on the report during this time. Once the time is up, take a break.
